Tips for longer vase life

Avoid crushing or decomposing of the lower end of the stem because these are unbecoming to the preservation of flowers. A little incision two centimetres above the lower end of the stem will be made everyday, using a pair of sissors and avoiding to strain or crush the stem; therefore, the stem cells will remain alive and nourish the flower for much longer. If possible, this incision should be made under water to avoid loss of energy from the flowers.
 
Once cut, the flowers must be kept in clear water and this one has to be changed as often as necessary. As the flower has been separated from the leaves and the roots of the plant, it cannot obtain the vital oxygen, except from the oxygen in the water, which is absorbed through the stem.

Avoid exposing the flowers to hot or cold draughts, such as vents or fans. Electrical appliances, such as T.V.sets, also release heat and can damage your flowers.
